Oh how I love outdoor lifestyle newborn photography!
Every now and then you come across a person in your life who experiences things in a similar way. We both were ECEs (in fact we worked together for a while) both were pregnant nearly at the same time… twice and now three times! I am not longer an ECE with her, I went off to have my own babies and got a position as an Occasional Teacher for the Waterloo School board. I find this to be the perfect gig to allow me time to balance photography and teaching. It’s interesting how your life changes but you can remain connected in so many ways and with many different people.
I have been honored to have been able to photograph all of these sweet children’s newborn sessions! I don’t often get clients who want to venture out into nature with their newest family member but when I do it’s amazing!! I think that, since COVID has caused so many restrictions with how we can interact with clients, I will, and have been doing more of these types of newborn sessions in the summer months. I am sad that our warm sessions are so short!
For this session, we kept these images simple… no crazy poses as the timing of working with busy littles at 730 can be tight. We worked quickly and efficiently. Our focus is on both big brothers, family, and newborn. The boys were so wonderful. What I love about lifestyle sessions is that you are able to capture the true excitement and love a new baby brings to families. Siblings have a chance to play around freely as well and this makes for amazing “real” images that are not dictated by posing or the limits an indoor studio session can pose.
If you would like to book such a session, I do recommend that the big kids have things to entertain them or even leave the session while we work with the baby. At times this is can be helpful. In our situation, these kids were amazing!!!! Dad also saved us from the mosquitos!
