Guelph Storm Games Create An Exciting Family Experience

It’s no secret that we love our hockey in Ontario, and for good reason! We have some great teams like the Guelph Storm that keep us cheering all season long. The only issue is that it can be a bit of a commitment to pack up the entire family and go catch a Leafs game. If you’re looking for a local option that delivers the same thrills, you have got to check out Guelph Storm. Not only are the games packed with the same nonstop action as what you’d find in the NHL but the entire atmosphere has been created with families in mind. Let me tell you all about why their games are one of my favourite events!

About the Guelph Storm

The Sleeman Centre 50 Woolwich St, Guelph, Ontario N1H 3T9

Since 1991, Guelph Storm has been the best place to check out some of the greatest players before they become legends. The CHL team was founded over 30 years ago as the Toronto Marlboros before moving to Guelph and undergoing a rebrand. Since then, the team has won the J. Ross Robertsons Cup four times and the Wayne Gretzky Trophy three times.

Over the course of the years, the team has been the launching pad of modern greats such as Tyler and Todd Bertuzzi, Ryan Callahan, Jeff O’Neill, and Nick Suzuki. The team’s preseason starts in September, and their regular season goes until March. Throughout these months, head over for some family-friendly fun. Just make sure to bring some hearing protection for the younger fans!

All The Fun

Guelph Storm games tend to last about two and a half hours and provide constant entertainment throughout. The Sleeman Center is located in the Old Quebec Street Mall, where there are often events you can check out before it’s time to head into the stadium. The game kicks off after a special performance of the National Anthem, which is often led by local school students.

Throughout the periods, be sure to keep an eye out for the mascot, Spyke. You can often find him around the stadium dancing and getting fans riled up. During the intermissions, the team cedes the ice to the Timbits so the mini allstars can play a four-minute game. If your child has been interested in hockey, it’s the perfect way to get them started.
