In-home lifestyle sessions are always what I recommend most when there are more children at home. Children are always more comfortable in their own home. I often end up being showed all kinds of toys and gadgets they are fond of when at a home sense. We focus on family connection and sibling connections first and when they are through the children can go off to play while we focus on baby and parents.

Congratulations on your most amazing little bundle of joy!!
This is such an exciting time in your life and I will photograph you I am always remember how important it is to capture that love, connection and all the little details.
I’ll give gentle direction throughout your session, but mostly want to document your new life naturally and we will go with the flow. We will take breaks as needed for feeding and changing, including necessary time for older siblings. This also provides an opportunity to grab breastfeeding photos if you choose. I take my cues from you, and your children. We can go as quickly or as slowly as your family would like. I can be silly or quiet. I always take my cues from you.
My goal is to make the entire experience wonderful. We will communication before, during and after the session in order to make sure you are totally engaged and satisfied with our experience together. I am calm, relaxed and fun session complete with beautiful artwork you can enjoy for years and years.

Baby-Led Sessions
Since all my sessions are baby- and big sibling) led sessions often vary in time from 1-4 hours because every baby is different and will come with different needs depending on the day and time.
I find it important to explain that for all my sessions:
feeding is welcome
crying is okay
breaks are expected
older siblings can take breaks
no rushing
What does that even mean?
Hi! Let me first say, congrats on your new baby! Booking a session 2 months before your due date is always my suggestion but if you are more like me and have waited until baby has always arrived, don't worry! We can always create beautiful photographs of your baby no matter the age. When babies are younger 5-10 days old, we tend to get very sleepy squishy images. When they are a little bit older, we will get more awake images.

Let me know what type of session you are interested in (studio, or outdoor), a date you have in mind and any other details about your amazing family.
I will always respond as quickly as possible, usually within 48 hours to make sure we are a great fit for your vision, and get your date secured on my calendar.

2. Let's plan your session
Let's pick a date. Because the arrival of babies can be very unpredictable, I ask that you simply tell me your due date and we will make sure we have space within that month. If your due dat changes, please just let me know! (My first baby was 3 weeks early so I get how things change!)
3. Where will we shoot take place?
Its up to you! You may choose to do an in-home lifestyle session or a studio session in my cozy studio based out of my home.
If you choose that lifestyle is matches your vibe...
Take a look around your home. All we really need is some nice light. Look for a large window . this is often the nursery, a master bedroom or the living room. Take a few moments to scan the room and prepare the room by cleaning out any obvious clutter. Consider cords, tissue boxes, diaper boxes. Feel free to hide these items behind the couch! hehe
If you prefer a studio session...
Totally awesome! We can do a studio in my cozy and neutral based studio. This is a great way to step outside your home for a little bit of time. The studio is warm and ready to go when you arrive. All you need to bring is your baby and something to feed them!
When looking around your home, please pay attention to what time you have the nice light. We are looking for nice soft light if possible. Some homes this is the morning and sometimes it is the afternoon.
4. what do I wear?
I have a small client closet that you can choose from! It consists of very pretty but simple dresses.
I always suggest neutral colours. I think these are timeless and photograph well with my style.
Please avoid anything with writing or logos. If Dad is going to be in the photos I suggest chinos or slacks rather than jeans if possible.
I can send a fashion guide if you like and am always happy to consult on clothing any time!
5. your Session
The day has arrived. It is time for your session. If we are doing an in-home lifestyle session, turn up the heat a little so it's nice a toasty. ( A warm baby is a sleepy, happy baby). You can feed the baby before I get there or wait till I arrive. Get the big kids and yourself dressed and make sure you do not skip eating (maybe switch that, and have the kids eat first, then get dressed!)
Newborn Sessions usually take between two and three hours. I follow your baby's lead and allow plenty of time for feeding and changing. Most of our time together will be spent getting your babe settled into a good sleep so I can pose him into those sweet positions for his photos. A lifestyle session can sometimes be shorter due to babies being happy in the arms of their loved ones and therefore they wont need as much settling or to sleep as soundly.
5. Your images
About 2 weeks later we will book a viewing appointment. This can happen in person or virtually. When we meet we will have a chance to chat, have some delicious snacks, maybe even a little drink. We will smile, ohh and awe at your photos and maybe even shed a tear or two. Together, I will help you select your favourite images that you would like printed for wall art or for an album that you can look at over and over again. If you would like digitals we can get those ordered as well.
A few weeks after you appointment your images and products will be ready for pick up.

Looking for answers about working with a Guelph maternity photographer? Here are the most common questions clients ask before their session.
I always recommend reaching out during your second trimester. This gives us plenty of time to plan both your maternity and newborn sessions. Once your baby arrives, just send me a message when you're ready, and we'll choose a date together.
Newborn sessions are typically scheduled in the morning when the light in your home is at its best, but we'll always choose a time that works well for your family. Because my sessions are completely baby-led, I don't rush. We allow lots of time for feeding, cuddles, diaper changes, and settling, so sessions usually last between one and four hours.
While many photographers recommend photographing newborns within the first two weeks, I don't believe there's one perfect window. Every baby is different, and we'll photograph your little one when you feel ready.
All babies cry, and that's completely normal. We simply take breaks when they're needed for cuddles, feeding, diaper changes, or a little extra comforting. My sessions are completely baby-led, so there is never any pressure to rush. A crying baby doesn't worry me one bit.
That's completely okay. Feeding your baby is never something we need to rush. Whether you're breastfeeding or bottle-feeding, we'll take all the time your little one needs.
If you're comfortable, we can even document those quiet feeding moments. They are such a beautiful part of your story as a new family and often become some of the most meaningful photographs
Please don't worry. I have over 20 years of experience working with children as an Early Childhood Educator, Ontario Certified Teacher, photographer, and mom of three. I've seen it all, and I'm never expecting perfection.
We play, we cuddle, we laugh, and we take breaks when we need to. Sometimes the most beautiful photographs come from the moments that feel a little wild. Those genuine interactions are often the ones you'll treasure the most.
I recommend simple, neutral clothing with soft textures and timeless colours. No logos or wild prints. I do suggest creams and white usually. Slacks for men. Also consider socks or toes ( I like toes over socks) or pretty shoes even. The goal is to keep the focus on your family's connection, not busy patterns or logos. Once your session is booked, I'll send you a styling guide to help you choose outfits that photograph beautifully together.
I do have a small client wardrobe too if you are stuck for what to wear, you can look to see if I have something you like!
What do I wear?
Where are my sessions held and do you uses props?
I have two options! We can do a studio session, which is held in my home studio just outside Cambridge and Guelph. Here, I will use a few simple props. All my studio sessions are photographed on a white background, on a cream and white linens. I will use a few props but I am not an overly posed photographer. (no froggy pictures here) . I also photograph clients in their homes. This is called Lifestyle photography. I do not bring props but I will bring a few wraps and clothing options. We use your home as our backdrop. This a grea way to remember your baby's first home, photograph the snuggles and all the love.
How long do newborn photoshoots usually take?
Sessions can be 1-4 hours. Lifestyle sessions are often shorter in time because we can move around your home for location changes and do not require posing. Studio sessions are sometimes a little longer, but we are flexible and can adapt to your wishes and the baby's schedule.
What an incredible experience. I had the privilege of having Chelsey do our maternity photos in her studio and it was a wonderful experience from beginning to end. I was a bit nervous that I wouldn't know what to do or how to pose, but Chelsey made me feel so confident and comfortable as soon as I walked into the studio. The photos are timeless and elegant and I am so grateful for her serious skills! Not only are her photos incredible, but she is simply a lovely and talented woman both in front and behind the camera.
