Hi, I'm Chelsey.
I'm so glad you're here.
I'm a mom of three, an Ontario Certified Teacher, and the photographer behind Chelsey Kae Photography. My kids are 6, 9, and 12, and I truly understand how quickly these seasons of life move because I am living them right alongside you.
Most days, you'll find me with a coffee in hand, driving to activities, cheering from the sidelines, or enjoying the beautiful chaos that comes with family life. I know what it feels like to want to freeze time for just a little longer. The little voices, the belly laughs, the tiny details, and even the ordinary moments that somehow become the ones you miss the most.
That is why I love what I do.
With more than 20 years of experience working with children and families as a Registered Early Childhood Educator, an Ontario Certified Teacher, photographer, and mom, I bring a deep understanding of children and how they experience the world. Every child is different. Some jump right in, some need time to warm up, and some have endless energy they need to move through first.
That is completely okay.
When you book a session with me, you don't have to worry about your children sitting perfectly still or smiling on command. My goal is not to create a perfect version of your family. My goal is to capture the real one. I gently guide when needed, but I also give children the freedom to play, explore, laugh, and be themselves.
My sessions are designed for real life. For busy moms. For growing families. For those who want beautiful photographs without the pressure of making everything look perfect.
My love for photography started when I was a little girl. During a visit to my grandmother's home, she gave me a small Kodak camera, and I spent hours photographing the little things that caught my eye. Flowers tucked into tree bark, snow piled on the deck, old fire hydrants, and all the small details that most people would walk right past. At 10 years old, I took my first photography class and began learning how to use a camera creatively.
Years later, when I was 23 and had just met my husband, I bought my first DSLR, a Pentax. It was a big investment for us at the time, but he believed in me and encouraged me to follow that passion. I carried that camera everywhere, documenting everyday moments and the people I loved most. Before long, I discovered how much I loved photographing families and children.
Not long after, I joined Edge Imaging as a school photographer. If you remember school picture day, that was me! I loved the energy, the personalities, and the unpredictability that came with photographing children. Every day was different, and I loved finding ways to help each child feel comfortable in front of the camera.
Becoming a mom changed photography for me in a way I never expected.
I always knew childhood went quickly, but experiencing it with my own children gave me a completely different perspective. Suddenly, I wanted to remember everything. The sleepy newborn stretches, the tiny hands reaching for mine, the laughter that filled our home, and the little moments that seemed ordinary at the time but became incredibly meaningful.
That is the perspective I bring into every session today.
I know how precious these seasons are while you are living them, and I know how quickly they become memories. My goal is to preserve your family exactly as you are right now. The connection, the personality, and the little moments that make your family yours.
What started with a little Kodak camera has grown into a business that allows me to photograph so many incredible families throughout Guelph, Puslinch, Cambridge, and the surrounding areas. I feel incredibly grateful every time a family trusts me to capture this chapter of their story.
Hi, I'm Chelsey
My years as an educator taught me that every child communicates differently. Some jump right in, some need time to observe, and some need a little encouragement before they shine. I bring that same patience into every session.
My background story
My love for photography started when I was a little girl. During a visit to my grandmother's house, she gave me a small Kodak camera, and I spent hours photographing everything that caught my eye. Flowers, old fire hydrants, snow on the deck, and all the little details that most people walked right past. At 10 years old, I took my first photography class, and I've had a camera in my hands ever since.
When I was 23 and had just met my husband, I decided to buy my first DSLR. We chose a Pentax, and at the time it felt like a huge purchase for us. Looking back, I'm so grateful he believed in me because that camera changed everything. I took it everywhere, capturing everyday life and the people I loved most. Before long, I discovered how much I loved photographing families and children.
Not long after, I joined Edge Imaging as a school photographer. If you remember school picture day, there's a good chance I was the one behind the camera! I loved the energy, the personalities, and the challenge of making every child feel comfortable enough to smile.
Then I became a mom.
I always knew children grew quickly, but having my own completely changed the way I saw photography. Suddenly, I wanted to remember everything. The tiny fingers wrapped around mine, the sleepy newborn stretches, the gap-toothed smiles, and the way my kids looked at me before they were old enough to be embarrassed. I realized these everyday moments were the ones I never wanted to forget.
That perspective shapes every session I photograph today. My goal isn't just to create beautiful images. It's to preserve this season of your family's life in a way that feels natural, joyful, and true to who you are.
What started with a little Kodak camera has grown into a business that allows me to tell the stories of so many incredible families. It is a privilege that I never take for granted.
A Look into my

Meet Matt! (My wonderful husband). We started dating in July of 2005, but had met a few years earlier when we worked at the same sporting goods chain. We re-met a few years after that when my friend was set up to go on a date with Matt. We met while out in downtown Guelph, and we seemed to hit it off right away. We bought a little home in Guelph, took up dog ownership with Molly, the Weimeraner. We got married in 2012 and had the most amazing wedding there ever was. We moved to Breslau and had a few babies, then we moved to Puslinch! We love it here! He’s an avid cyclist and an amazing dad. He’s my biggest supporter and always makes my (somewhat) crazy ideas come true!
We both grew up 30 minutes from each other, I in Guelph and Matt in Cambridge, ON and it’s so nice to be raising our family right between the two cities, in Puslinch!

So my second favourite thing used to be titled, "Wine, chocolate or coffee?" Now, don't get me wrong, I still love all of these things, but over the last two years, I have leaned heavily into working out and trying to get into better shape to help support myself as I grow older and show my kids the strength and power a woman can have. I have nearly stopped drinking wine and honestly don't even miss it. Coffee and chocolate, on the other hand, will stay with me.

If you asked me what my favourite things were a few years ago. I would have quickly said my Weimaraners. We used to have two sweet, sassy, stackable Velcro dogs (if you know those dogs, you know exactly what I mean). Then my children were born, and we unfortunately lost the Weims to old age... Now I have three new favourite little creatures!
These are my kids. They are my "why" for everything I do. I can't believe that they are all over the age of 6 now. I talk about how time moves fast, but it really does, and it is sped up when you introduce kids to your life.
We moved from a growing town where houses were squished together, and you could borrow a cup of sugar without leaving your porch, to a large property the kids can run around in, and we have to hollar for them until they come running. The boys love all things baseball, biking, and roasting marshmallows on the fire. Little E is the sweetest girl and is always dancing, cartwheeling and singing!

What an incredible experience. I had the privilege of having Chelsey do our maternity photos in her studio and it was a wonderful experience from beginning to end. I was a bit nervous that I wouldn't know what to do or how to pose, but Chelsey made me feel so confident and comfortable as soon as I walked into the studio. The photos are timeless and elegant and I am so grateful for her serious skills! Not only are her photos incredible, but she is simply a lovely and talented woman both in front and behind the camera. Would HIGHLY recommend to anyone.
I AM SO EXCITED AND BEYOND THANKFUL! Chelsey made me feel so confident and empowered!

Always a fun day when we get to do a photo shoot with Chelsey! We have had the pleasure of having Chelsey photograph many of our big life events; our engagement, wedding, the newborn days of both our babies, and our family as our girls grow. Her approach is relaxed and she gives great direction that is playful and natural rather than posed. I love the way the photos reflect the little things my kids were doing in those moments, capturing them in the pure joy of childhood.

I came across Chelsey's website when I was pregnant with my first baby nearly a decade ago and booked her for a newborn session because I liked the look of her photos! 3 babies later, many photo shoots and lots of laughs I can honestly say I wouldn't trust anyone else to capture my family in photos! Chelsey is honestly the best and I without a doubt love every picture she takes of my family! She is amazing and my kids love her too!

Chelsey has taken photos of us for over 8 years beginning when I was pregnant with my first child. We have 2 walls devoted entirely to photos that Chelsey has taken of our family and we receive so many positive comments on them. Chelsey has a knack for getting reluctant little ones to smile and with posing newborns! Very happy with all of our photos!

My husband and I went with Chelsey for our maternity and newborn photo shoots and we had an EXCELLENT experience with her!
Her fun, flexible, relaxed attitude makes her easy to get along with and provides a comfortable environment for photo taking. She has a great eye for candid photo opportunities and more staged shots that will blow you away (see two examples attached). She turned the photo taking experience into a joint effort - gauging what's important to us and what our personal taste would be while also offering great suggestions along the way. As parents of a newborn, we weren't sure if we wanted to have anyone in our - let's be honest, messy and chaotic - home. When Chelsey came for our lifestyle newborn shoot, she was amazing at working around the messes to capture some wonderful shots that felt like us. She was also great at handling our little guy - helping him look his best and making him feel comfortable. Looking forward to working with Chelsey again in the future! :)

Chelsey was fantastic to work with. She photographed my mother’s 60th birthday celebration as well as my son’s 6 month photos. She engaged so well with both the children and adults and made the whole experience so easy. Chelsea was so natural and easy to talk to, and was able to capture everyone’s personality in her photos. The only difficult thing was choosing which photos to purchase because they were all so beautiful ❤️ I would definitely recommend Chelsey Kae Photography. #guelphbabyphotography #torontobabyphotography

Chelsey has been nothing but professional for the several photo shoots we’ve done with our family. She always makes it fun, and never forced or awkward. I’ve often recommended her work to friends, and would do it again!

Chelsey started taking photos for our family just before our first child was born. Since then, we keep coming back for more and more amazing photos. Chelsey is professional, flexible, and a pleasure to work with. She is patient with young children and making sure you love your photos is her top priority. She is extremely talented and dedicated. I have received countless compliments on photos Chelsey has done for us, and I am constantly asked for the name of my photographer. I can not recommend chelseykaephotography strongly enough! You won’t regret it!

Chelsey’s photography lines the halls of our home. Over the past seven years (and four children!) she has captured beautiful images of our family by keeping the atmosphere relaxed and comfortable. Chelsey is wonderful with children of all ages and we have been very fortunate to work with her.

Chelsey did an absolutely fantastic job on capturing mine and baby’s first mama outing together. We used nature as the backdrop and she took the time to make us feel comfortable; giving tips/ideas for endearing positions and placements, which helped to snap the perfect shot! Thanks Chelsey, we will be seeing you again :)

Chelsey has taken photos of us for years and the outcome is always great. The images are beautiful and Chelsey is wonderful to interact with. She makes you feel comfortable.

Chelsey did an amazing job on our maternity, birth and Christmas mini shoot. We couldn't have been happier with the quality of the photos and her professionalism. She made us comfortable behind the camera and was extremely patient with my daughter while trying to capture her at her best! I highly recommend her services.
